Our tools include competitive ad-tracking, political social listening, early ballot return tracking, and media planning systems. We are affiliated with Uplift Campaigns, a political services agency with over a decade of experience and 200+ campaigns per cycle.
In this role you will:
Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps
-
Manage and optimize our infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Firebase, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability
-
Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines for backend and frontend deployments
-
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to catch data or service failures
Backend Engineering
-
Design and maintain scalable APIs to support web applications and data tools
-
Build and optimize ETL pipelines to process political data from varied external sources
-
Develop features that transform large volumes of raw data into actionable insights for users
-
Manage data validation, error handling, and testing frameworks to increase data reliability
-
Collaborate closely with product, data, and political strategists, as part of a lean technical team, to deliver high-impact features that support campaign decision-making
Here’s what you’ll need to succeed at Rise:
-
Experience with cloud infrastructure or DevOps, including configuring GCP (or AWS) environments for high availability, scalability, and cost-efficiency, with particular focus on Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, BigQuery and Firestore (or equivalent services)
-
Strong command of Python and SQL, with a successful record of building and maintaining backend systems, APIs, and data processing pipelines
-
Ability to design and debug ETL workflows and build systems that ingest, clean, and transform large, messy data from diverse sources
-
Comfort juggling infrastructure and backend domains, balancing day-to-day DevOps work with longer-term feature development
-
Self-directed mindset with ability to take ownership of technical projects
-
Passion for political change and electing strong Democratic leaders
